WHERE: Lawson Creek Park, 1309 Country Club Road, New Bern
TRIP DIFFICULTY: Easy 4-5 mile round trip, 2-3 hours on water Wind may increase difficulty until we get on the protected creek.
TRIP DESCRIPTION: Meet at Lawson Creek Park at 9:30. Launch from boat ramp or Jack’s Island sandy beach at 10:00 am
We will paddle under the Front Street bridge, then under the 55 bridge, to the tunnels leading to Scott’s Creek. We will paddle through either of the 3 long, slightly scary tunnels that lead to a very pretty little Scott’s Creek. After a couple miles exploring the creek we will turn around and come back through the long, still slightly scary tunnels and return to Lawson Creek Park. If you have never experienced the tunnels this is your chance!
PFD IS REQUIRED. Bring snacks, hat, water, and a headlight if you desire. Weather calls for clear skies, mid 60s with 5-8 mph winds.
